MILES ALEXANDER- 1931- 2025
Miles Alexander was an internationally renowned trademark attorney whose clients included Adidas, Disney, Rolls Royce Harley-Davidson, and even the Estate of Martin Luther King Jr. He also dedicated his time to pro bono work, from challenging Georgia ' s voter ID law to representing Ethiopian women tortured in their homeland. A close advisor and dear freind to Atlanta ' s first Black mayor, Maynard Jackson, Miles was known for his sharp wit and famous " Miles-isms." Mr. Alexander died on July 11, 2025 at the age of 93. R. WILLIAM IDE, III- 1940- 2025 Bill Ide served as President of the American Bar Association from 1993 to 1994, where he championed the rule of law in the U. S. and abroad. He co-founded Georgia Legal Services and helped create the legal framework for MARTA, underscoring his lifelong commitment to public service. His leadership extended to roles as General Counsel of Monsanto, founding board member of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, and Chair of the ABA’ s Rule of Law Initiative. Beyond his professional achievements, Bill was an Eagle Scout, athlete, runner, skier, and devoted family man who never missed a grandchild’ s game, bringing energy, intellect, and joy to everything he touched. Mr. Ide passed away on July 8, 2025. OBITUARY
THOMAS G. SAMPSON SR.- 1946- 2025
Thomas G. Sampson, Sr. was the co-founder and managing partner of Georgia’ s oldest Black-owned law firm, Thomas Kennedy Sampson & Tompkins LLP. A trailblazer, esteemed advocate, educator, and pillar of justice for over 50 years, he leaves a legacy of integrity and empowerment. Beyond his legal victories, Tom was a civic leader whose influence touched government, nonprofits, and community institutions. Mr. Sampson passed away on July 3, 2025. OBITUARY
BENJAMIN LOUIS WEINBERG JR- 1927- 2025
Ben served as President of the Atlanta Bar Association in 1969, a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia for 17 years, and as a member of numerous legal organizations, including the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. Benjamin Louis Weinberg Jr., died on June 22, 2025, at the age of 98. OBITUARY
