What was your most memorable ( good or bad ) Valentine ’ s Day gift ?

My oldest daughter was due on February 17 – but she arrived a week early . We were released from the hospital on Valentine ’ s Day after a five day stay . When my husband and I arrived home from the hospital with our daughter , we had no idea what to do with her or ourselves . We were not quite prepared for her arrival . My husband left the house to go to the grocery store ( this was before the days of Instacart !); when he came home , my daughter and I were asleep on the couch . I had not taken her out of her car seat ! He joined us for a nap - my daughter strapped in her car seat and each of us on either side of her . It was a great Valentine ’ s day present .

My chef husband is always working on Valentine ’ s Day so we usually celebrate a few days later . Even so , he always sends the most beautiful , unique flowers from Foxgloves and Ivy , a local florist who creates something more akin to a floral sculpture than a bouquet . I look forward to it every year !

My wife Tracy and I were engaged over the Christmas holidays back in 2012 . My favorite memory was the Valentines ’ Day the following year . It was such an exciting time for us , especially planning our wedding for the springtime . While I don ’ t quite remember any of the actual gifts that year , I knew then ( and still know now ) that the greatest gift of all truly is love .
