LITTLE SPARROW
JCT Kitchen space . It ’ s on the elegant side , so expect leather seating , dark wood floors , and wooden tabletops . It ’ s special without going over the top , and you can hear each other talk across the table .
The name “ Little Sparrow ” refers to French singer Edith Piaf ’ s nickname who was popular during the 1940s for ballads such as “ La Vie En Rose .”
When you arrive at Little Sparrow , you might miss it . The sign is subtle . The neon " L . SPARROW " is typed over a French bar sign like you ' d see in Paris . But don ' t drive past ! This little gem is a great place to take a client .
Ford Fry ’ s new French brasserie resides in the former
Be warned that Ford Fry ( a James Beard semifinalist for Outstanding Restauranteur for five years and the owner of Superica , St . Cecilia , and The Optimist ) doesn ’ t shy away from fat . So , “ When in Rome , do as the Romans do ,” and order the French fries . You ’ re there for them , so don ’ t leave without them – crispy on the outside , soft on the inside – they are some of the most divine . They ’ re served with a choice of béarnaise or aioli ( and I recommend the former )— or you can add the raclette service for a $ 10 upcharge . ( I plan to do so on my next visit with clients .)
