Pupils meet Tony Blair......

On the 29th November 2013 a group of year 8 boys had the pleasure and honour of meeting former Prime Minister Tony Blair. This opportunity came about through our cricket academy club that we run every Wednesday night after school. The coaches that run the club kindly asked our students to attend this event because they felt we would show a good example of cricket in the north east. The event was organised to show case the Tony Blair Foundation which has been set up to help young coaches build their skills. There are now 3500 qualified coaches thanks to the foundation. The event took part at South Northumberland cricket facility. It is a brilliant new facility that concentrates on improving the standard of cricket in the north east. John Spence took part in various activities that were put on by the coaches. Every one of the students said they thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was a good experience for them. After the event had taken place the coaches congratulated our students on how well they all behaved and thanked them for all taking part. One more bonus from the day was that the event was highly publicised and we managed to get on the local news.
