John Spence Triumphant again.........
Tyneside Senior Schools Table Tennis Competition.
A hard fought win in this year’s final saw the John Spence retain the Tyneside Senior Schools Table Tennis Competition at Under 16 level for the fifth year in a row. This year’s final was a very close contest with the school beating St Thomas More of Blaydon by 8 games to 7 in the final played at Newcastle School for Boys.
Pictured with the trophy are Lewis McGoldrick, David Office, Daryl Penton and Matthew Robson. Earlier in the season the team were winners of the North Tyneside Schools Table Tennis Competition and were Runners Up to Oxclose in the Tyne and Wear Final.
The girls U-14 football team have competed in a central venue league over the past school year. This has involved all of the other schools from North Tyneside and they have earned the right to play in a competition against schools from Northumberland, Newcastle and Gateshead.
The girls have played 9 fixtures; winning 7, drawing 1 and losing 1. They have successfully progressed to the regional finals to represent North Tyneside that will be held at Cramlington Learning Village in April.
The team consists of; Natalie Ellis, Nicola Caygill, Georgia Walker, Abby Waterworth, Madison Watts, Shelly Brogden, Jessica McVay, Orla McCallion and Georgia Keethlo.
Hopefully the girls can be successful and add to the array of silverware the girls football teams have already won over the past few years.
Year 11 Boys Football
- In the hunt to retain North Tyneside League Title.
The Year 11 boy’s football team have continued with their excellent form this season and remain undefeated in the league. Having played six of their nine league games so far, they remain undefeated and sit at the top of the league table with only 3 games to play. Since the Christmas holiday they have drawn 1 – 1 with Whitley Bay and 3 – 3 with St. Thomas More, but went top of the league with a recent 3 – 2 victory over Churchill. Hopefully the boys can recreate what last year’s Year 11 football team did and keep the league trophy at John Spence for another season. Unfortunately, the boys lost on penalties to Whitley Bay in the semi-final of the North Tyneside Cup, 5 - 4.
