When the Swedish owners of a local restaurant on Belmont decided to retire after 60 years , a woman named Ann Sather decided to quit her job and open her own diner now known as Ann Sather Restaurant . Her devotion to wholesome , madefrom-scratch food , low prices and hard work became legendary in Lakeview . In 1981 , after searching for a successor , Ann finally sold the restaurant to Tom Tunney , who is currently the Alderman of the 44th Ward in Chicago . Make sure to try one of Ann Sather ’ s famous cinnamon rolls !
