Q AND A SECTION
What to do in Paris France?
Serendipity asked...
I’m wondering is there anything to do in Paris France. RSVP
We answered: If it is your first trip to Paris be sure to see all of the main sites (Le Tour Eiffel, La Cathedrale du Sacre Coeur, La Cathedrale de Notre Dame de Paris, L'Arc de Triomphe, Le Musee du Louvre) (The Eiffel Tower, The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, The Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris, The Arch of Triumph, The Louvre Museum).
However the answer to this is really defined by what type of person you happen to be...(artistic, academic, adventurous, musical...etc.)
If you are Artistic…
...into Modern Art and Architecture, then definitely stop by Le Centre George Pompideau, the museum of modern art named after a mayor of Paris, and perchance a visit to La Defense, an area just outside the city limits which is not subject to the architectural limitations imposed on the city center and thus is home to the only skyscraper in Paris, Le Tour de la Defense, or visit Le Musee Picasso, home of many works by the master himself which France aquired as payment for Picasso's death duties.
...into Impressionist Painting and Sculptures, then visit Le Musee d'Orsay, a treasure-trouve of impressionist pieces and a former train station, and definitely stop by Le Musee Rodin where you will find the famous statue, The Thinker (Le Penseur) in the gardens.
If you are Academic...
...I recommend the area around the Sorbonne. Many book stores and the like catering to the students at the University are found here. Le Pantheon, a replica of the Pantheon in Rome and home to the crypts of famous Frenchmen and women (e.g. Marie and Pierre Curie and Jean-Jeaques Rousseau), can be found here as well and one can enter it for a fee.
