above painting: ‘Fire Sky’ 300mm x 300mm
It is quite a common practice to paint direct outside and then transcribe the sensation to
a larger work in the Studio. Both methods are used by Jocelyn. The work which struck
the writer was the ‘blue-grey’ painting with the slice of vivid orange red streaking across
the sky at 45 degrees - This is a reminder of how J.M.W- Turner used ‘colour shock’ to
give the viewer an unforgettable experience of the power of Art and nature combined.
