WwHAT’S IN THE BADGE?

Most learners wear their school badges proudly but they don’t know what the badge symbolises or represent. This month we visited Willow Crescent Secondary

School based in Willow Crescent Street, Eldorado Park Extension three, South of Johannesburg. “Willows” as nicknamed by those who attends there; its badge has a Willow tree. The willow tree represents the name of the school and the street name as in it situated in Willow Crescent Street. The school took the ‘Willow’ culture further by planting a Willow tree next to the school‘s offices and parking lot. A square structure was built all around the tree to protect it. On the front of the structure is the school’s name engraved on it. Both the tree and structure are a maximum height of 5 inch.

Willow trees have distinct appearances and require special care and nurturing. Learners at Willow Crescent Secondary School are like willow trees watered and cared for everyday to grow and stand out in community as well groomed members of the society.
