HOLIDAY DÉCOR
LIVE AT
UNICENTRO
Unicentro Pereira’s nativity scene literally came
alive last November, when the Colombian mall
turned 600 sq. mtrs. (6,458 square feet) of its
center court event site into a mini replica of
Bethlehem.
Natural vegetation, barns and live farm animals
served as a backdrop for an iconic stage where
actors reprised the roles of Joseph, Mary, the
Three Kings and shepherds.
According to Unicentro, over the holiday season,
more than 6,000 children visited the manger.
The space also doubled as an entertainment
venue where shoppers were able to catch live
performances on Christmas Eve.
MARTY &
FRIENDS TO
THE RESCUE
There were a lot of people walking around in big
blue winter coats at America’s Gaylord Opryland
resort last Christmas. It wasn’t a fashion statement,
but rather the preferred attire for those who
wanted to fully take in the ICE! winter wonderland
experience.
Among the highlights was Merry Madagascar™,
a display depicting scenes of partner
DreamWorks® Animation SKG, Inc.’s holiday
special. Visitors walking around the property could
see some of the story unfold through the display
and find out how characters Marty, Alex, Gloria
and Melman hatched a plan to save Christmas
after Santa and his reindeer crash-landed on the
island of Madagascar.
Those blue coats certainly came in handy for
anyone brave enough to go down the resort’s
ice slides, as a radio crew from the WBKR 92.5
station did.
The resort’s big attractions gave neighboring
mall Opry Mills a traffic boost, too. Among the
holiday tips that popped up on the Web were
suggestions to Opryland visitors to park at the
mall, go over to the resort to view the display
and then head back to Opry Mills to do some
holiday shopp ing.
