intu centers take children into outer space over their half-term holiday
intu took an old world/new world
approach last month when it hosted
families during the school half-term
break. With outer space as its central
theme, the UK developer created an
Intergalactic Fun program that had
children dabble in traditional arts and
crafts at coloring stations and mask/
puppet-making workshops, and also
experience the thrill of immersive VR.
While there was a common thread
weaving through the events and
activities that intu centers such as
Chapelfield, Eldon Square, Metrocentre,
Potteries, Uxbridge, and Victoria Centre

presented, it was up to each property to
tailor its programming and promotional
efforts to its own audience.
Ben Osborne and Connie Barber,
the seven-year-old Heads of Fun, were
the ones fronting the program at intu
Metrocentre. Clad in mini-astronaut
suits for the promotional shoot, they
drove interest in the center’s activities
and installations, which included a
mobile planetarium and selfie station
where visitors could take snapshots
next to a life-size cutout of British
astronaut, Tim Peake. Over at intu
