DIG IN . IT ’ S FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Dufferin Mall is teaming up again with Toronto Life magazine to host their second-annual Toronto Doughtnut Festival . On June 10 , shoppers will be able to pop in to sample tasty treats from some of the city ’ s top bakeries . For C $ 15 ( US $ 11.85 ) per adult or C $ 5 ( US $ 3.950 per child , guests will have access to a dozen popup vendors and be invited to grab their own designer donut six-packs .
The indulgence will come without an ounce of guilt because the event actually has a social sustainability mandate . For every ticket sold beginning May 7 , the festival organizers will donate a dollar to Feed It Forward , an organization that secures nutritious food and regular balanced meals for those in need by salvaging unused and unsold food otherwise destined for the landfill . those creations were designed to honor the fashion tenants . There was a DIY decorating station and a portion of the event proceeds went to Community Food Centres of Canada . Dufferin Mall and Toronto Life are hoping for more sweet results with even greater community impact .
According to Feed It Forward , C $ 31 billion ( US $ 24.3b ) worth of food is wasted every year in Canada , the equivalent of 40 percent of all food produced , while 4.9 million people live in poverty .
