Dear Alumni , Parents , and Friends of Thornton Academy ,
I thoroughly enjoy speaking with alumni , whether it ’ s the grandparent of a performer in our Spring musical or a graduate who returned to Saco for TA ’ s annual Homecoming Game . I feel an incredible sense of pride when they tell me about their career , knowing that Thornton Academy was the first step in their journey .
Since 1811 , Thornton Academy has prepared students for an ever-changing word . Our alumni include doctors , engineers , contractors , small business owners , realtors , nurses , those serving in the military , and much , much more .
As an educator and former teacher , I take particular pride when I hear of a TA alum who has chosen the path of teaching , either in our classrooms or elsewhere .
In this issue of Postscripts , you ’ ll read about several alumni who are shaping the future by teaching in various ways . Our cover story takes us to the North Dam Mill in Biddeford , where Amy Bartlett-Goodness ’ 00 operates a successful art studio that provides opportunities for students to explore their creativity beyond the classroom .
You ’ ll also hear from Suzanne ( Picard ) Roundeau ’ 97 , a member of the TA Athletic Hall of Fame , who is returning to her alma mater as the new coach of our Girls Basketball program .
Connie ( Auger ) Boutet ’ 48 volunteers in the Maine History Room at the Dyer Library , helping people who stop by to do research .
Michelle Goulet ’ 96 was recently honored for her nature-based preschool that brings learning ( and the kids ) into the outdoors .
I hope you ’ ll enjoy reading about these and other alumni who are making a difference in the lives of our students and other children .
I can ’ t think of a better investment in our future . Best ,
FROM THE HEADMASTER
