Bob Atwater ’ 67 , received the coveted and rare 2022 Edward C . Sweeney Medal for distinguished service in exploration from the ultra-elite The Explorers Club ( TEC ) of New York City . Bob served as an Explorers Club Vice President for nine years from 2012 through 2021 and on the Board of Directors for 6 years from 2012 through 2018 . The ultraelite club includes famous members like Jeff Bezos , James Cameron , Elon Musk , Jane Goodall , Buzz Aldrin along with deceased members like President Theodore Roosevelt , Robert Peary , John Glenn , Mathew Hansen , Walter Cronkite and numerous others .

1970s

1980s

Nancy ( Hirst ) King ’ 80 writes , “ I met and married my husband ( at a motorcycle rally ) 21 years ago . I then moved with my son Brandon to Massachusetts . I had been working at Saco & Biddeford Savings Bank for 10 years before this . Now that Paul has graduated from the workforce , we are moving back to his hometown in Boulder , Colorado . My passion for years has been quilting and cookbook collecting . We have traveled to many parts of Eastern Canada , to Germany in 2010 for 3 weeks , and several times to Hawaii in the last ten years . I was sorry we all missed the last reunion in 2020 , they are so fun !"
Wayne Collins ’ 81 retired after 41 years of combined military and federal service . Wayne enlisted in the Army in 1981 , where he discovered his passion for medical equipment repair . He was assigned to the U . S . Army Medical Materiel Agency ( USAMMA ) and managed repair part kits at MMOD-Tobyhanna , an Army Depot in Pennsylvania . He retired from active service as a master sergeant in 2001 , then returned to USAMMA as an Army Civilian , where he worked until his retirement in August . “ Wayne has definitely left his mark at Tobyhanna ,” said Bill Wall , chief of operations at MMOD-Tobyhanna . “ We would not be where we are today without his leadership and his determination for us to be one of the premier medical maintenance support destinations for the last 20 years .”
Patricia McInnis Ross ’ 84 and her husband , Robert , proudly shared that their daughter Shelby ’ 16 recently graduated magna cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law and passed the Connecticut Bar Exam . She was sworn in as an attorney on November 3 .
In July , Thornton hosted the Saco Main Street Car Show , drawing classic car enthusiasts and alumni volunteers .
