Dear Alumni , Parents , and Friends of Thornton Academy ,

Abraham Lincoln said the best way to predict your future is to create it .
As I walk around the Thornton campus , I see students filled with the hope and promise that come with the start of a new school year . For our seniors , September marks the beginning of the final chapter in their high school career . Many have identified their next step after graduation ; others will decide in the coming months .
It wasn ’ t so long ago that we were in their shoes .
The faces on campus may have changed , but the dreams and aspirations shine just as brightly . And that is what has made Thornton Academy a special place since 1811 .
In May , 344 students graduated and became alumni of Thornton . I was especially proud of this class . Nearly half of their high school career came under the cloud of a pandemic , yet they remained resilient , determined , and positive . Despite the challenges , these students left their mark . Fifty-one graduated Summa Cum Laude . Many others received academic , artistic , or athletic awards .
My fondest memories of the Class of 2022 include the ever-present smiles on the graduates ’ faces as they accepted their diplomas . I ’ m looking forward to reading about their accomplishments in future issues of Postscripts .
Best ,
