HONORING ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS
Doris Bergeron ' 60 was honored and recognized in the Maine Health Care Association ’ s Remember ME program . The Photography Exhibit & Recognition Ceremony honors residents of Maine ’ s long term care facilities with historically significant backgrounds , unique or interesting accomplishments , or those who have served the community , state , or country .
Eric Purvis ‘ 91 , pictured below on the left , received the Private Sector Award from the Biddeford Saco Rotary Club for " his years of service to and leadership of Thornton Academy , and for his efforts to make Thornton a first class school for its students and staff ." Eric has been the President of Thornton ' s Board of Trustees since 2009 . Eric is pictured with former Thornton Academy Trustee Bill Kany ‘ 77 , who presented Eric with the award at a Rotary Club meeting . " He has provided a calm and strong voice throughout very challenging and constantly changing times ," said Bill . " TA and our community will forever be indebted to him for his leadership ."
Congratulations to Heidi Parker Paulette ' 92 , owner of Sweet Sunrise , a bakery located in Saco ’ s Pepperell Square . Heidi won three first place awards at the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival : Best New Baker , Best Flavor for her pumpkin with cream cheese frosting , and the People ’ s Choice Award . Heidi is also the mother of two Alumni , Dylan ‘ 18 and Jacob ‘ 16 , who works at Sweet Sunrise with her . Her youngest son , Andrew , is a Junior at TA and also helps at the bakery .
Adam Gary Normand ‘ 02 recently entertained audiences as the loveable ogre Shrek at the Lyric Music Theater in South Portland . In addition to performing in several local productions , Adam has also directed , including last year ’ s holiday show , " A Christmas Survival Guide " at the Lyric . His advice for those just starting out ? “ Whether it ’ s while you ’ re in school or after you graduate , keep following your dreams . The harder you work for it , the better the rewards .”
