SYSCO grows with“ Big Data”
A few months after Credo Partners took position as the main shareholder of SYSCO, an important acquisition became a reality. The agreement to acquire the data company Enfo Analytics, owned by Agder Energi Venture, was signed in late November and SYSCO thereby secured an unique expertise on Big Data. This will benefit the company’ s customers in the future.
Enfo Analytics is a company consisting of five highly skilled technologists, physicists and mathematicians, recently spun off from Agder Energi. The employees have a number of years worked in the research and development department of Statnett, among other things with Big Data solutions that automatically identify and report malfunctions in the power grid( Aggregate AutoDIG). The level of competence is high among SYSCO ´ s new employees, and one of the new recruits are currently also writing for his doctorate in an important area for utility companies.
-We want to take an even clearer position in relation to the digitization of the power industry. There is great need for new skills in the area of Big Data, IoT and artificial intelligence. Today the situation is a little that” everyone talks about it,” but” no one” knows what it is.
The fact is that the technology has been available for a long time, the deficiencies are however primarily on the algorithms and analytis skills. This is why we are excited about the opportunity this acquisition provides us, explains CEO Frank Vikingstad.
The staff of Enfo Analytics will become part of the SYSCO office at Lysaker, located near the premises they have outlined earlier. In the short term the entire team is fully engaged for Statnett in various R & D projects, but in the future they will form the basis for a new division that will focus on simplifying, automating and innovate solutions for SYSCO ´ s customers.
