Avsender: Sysco, Stølsmyr 22, 5542 Karmsund, Norway The SYSCO Challenge With over 200 enrolled participants and amazing weather conditions, the start of the first Sysco Challenge could not have been better. The event is based on SYSCO’s core value of being ”energetic” and organized in collaboration with FC Haugesund, where the company is one of the club’s main sponsors. The starting point of the challenge, was to get up the approximately 4.5 km long hill from Kvedantunet in Ramsdalen and up to Steinsfjellet, located just out- side Haugesund. It was both possible to ride a bike and run the distance, and some also did both! Some took the challenge as a competition, while others used the opportunity for a pleasant walk with a stroller or dog. SYSCO’s Peder K. Madsen, tells us about a lot of good feedback from the event, and finds that the challenge seemed to be appreciated both by those who took the opportunity to exercise and for those who wanted to compete. The fastest runner, and winner of the first Sysco Challenge, became Glenn Solvang from Kopervik, with the time of 18 minutes 36 seconds. Arne Kalland Olsen (18) from Haugesund, became the fastest cyclist and made the trip in 11 minutes and 20 seconds. However, he did not take any time to rest, and immediately took the trip back to run back up! He had no problems with it, and ran up Steinsfjellet again, eventually winning the duo class. At the mountain top of Steinsfjellet, there was a big party of people, where sponsors stood up with both food and drink to participants and the audience. Here there was also a prize drawn to several of the participants. – All in all, this was a day of great en- thusiasm and energy, with a lot of good sports and fun, so we could not have wanted a better premiere for our com- petition, says Peder K. Madsen. He further explains that SYSCO Chal- lenge will be re-arranged on May 5th, 2018, and encourages interested par- ticipants to follow up on updates in the media and the SYSCO website for more information on how to sign up for the next challenge.
