Moving forward
On August 5, 2020, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) voted to cancel all Division III athletic championships for the fall season due to public health concerns surrounding COVID-19. With Stevenson University’s fall sports competitions moving to spring 2021, the preparation following such a prolonged competition hiatus has become a new obstacle.
The Athletics department has since installed 12 new, socially distant weight racks in the Mustang Stadium, and athletes are required to wear properly fitted face masks as well as regularly return negative COVID-19 test results prior to working out and resuming sports activities on campus. The University also ensures frequent sanitation of weight room equipment following each usage.
