surrounded by bubbling babies,
bumbling bees, and a feather.
A lone black feather plucked
from the back of a butchered
bird.
A broken mind in a box
The pieces lay, untouched,
as if they were meant to be this way
The box is given to a boy,
that boy borrows a blade to
break the box
but betrayed to discover,
a box within a box.
