ABN 22 000 048 868 First Published 1 December 1926 Sydney Legacy October 2013 is certainly a time of anniversaries and celebrations for Legacy and the Forces. Congratulations to all involved in organising these events. This is being written from the Moss Vale Legacy Holiday House where it is warm inside but decidedly chilly outside. The second group of Widows, grandmothers and children for this school holiday period is enjoying a week at the Moss Vale Legacy Holiday House where Meg Hickey and her team is filling us with great meals and ?Bob the bus driver‘ (Robert Dures) drives us safely to Ten Pin Bowling, the Movies, Mowbray Farm and many other activities. On Thursday, while Legatees and volunteers were out with the children for most of the day, the mothers and grandmothers had a day of ?pampering‘ with massages, facials and manicures before being taken out by Kay Sheekey for a splendid dinner. All the little ones had been fed and were in bed when they arrived home and the older ones were glad to hear about their mother's night out. Some evenings, when the children are all in bed, several mothers settle down for a few hours around a difficult jigsaw puzzle and this is a great time of sharing between young women who have been through a unique experience. I know that this is just one period in the many of Moss Vale Legacy Holiday House holidays but it is good to remember the earlier Legatees and members of the Women's Auxiliary, especially Mrs. Doris Lazarus whose initiative and foresight when President of The Women's Auxiliary in 1944, first perceived the need for a holiday home for Legacy Widows and children. They had the vision and all who those within Legacy who followed, have continued to support this wonderful resource. L/AG FLOOD 2 The Bulletin
