Welcome to the Society of Will Writers & Estate Planning Practitioners (SWW) and thank
you for enquiring as to what it takes to become a professional Will Writer and how the
SWW can help you achieve your goals.
Some people are put off by the phrase, non-regulated or self-regulated; there is a long
history in the United Kingdom of most professions trading without statutory regulation
being forced upon them. I cannot say that will always be the case, as Governments
move in mysterious ways. So now we have that cleared up, what does becoming a
professional Will Writer mean?
I’m not going to waste time taking you through what the SWW offers, except where I feel
its appropriate, as this pack will guide you through the SWW and what is expected of its
Members. Becoming a professional Will Writer is, but not limited to the following:
Low cost - unlike many job opportunities, there is no stock to purchase and hold in store,
so valuable income is not tied up unnecessarily.
Flexible - as many of your clients are likely to be employed, you can work around them
and their needs. This may mean working in the evening and occasional weekends.
However, if your clients are retired, these are ideal to meet with during the day, thereby
maximising your time.
If you are a working parent, who gave up work to bring up a family, Will Writing may well
be a great choice for you. Not only can you plan your working hours away from home but
you can also work whilst at home, as well as planning your hours around your partner,
the children’s school time and activities but still leaving plenty of time for yourself.
Enjoyable - if you are a person that likes people, talking to them, and helping them then
Will Writing may well be for you.
