1 On Monday, April 15,
2019, Mount Auburn
President Dave Barnett
ran his 25th consecutive
Boston Marathon. In
the last 22 years, Dave
has raised over $388,000
for Dana Farber Cancer
Institute. Just a couple
hours after finishing the
marathon, Dave was
back at Mount Auburn
celebrating with family
and friends at Bigelow
Chapel.

2 On June 26th,
Director of Cemetery
Development Jim
Holman was presented
with a certificate of
appreciation for his
term as President of the
New England Cemetery
Association by incoming
President Dave Boyle
at their 117th Annual
Meeting and Conference
in Stowe, Vermont.
3 On May 22, Reverend
Diana Donahue,
Staff Chaplain, Mass
General Hospital and
Reverend John Prusatis,
Pastor Saint Bridget’s,
Maynard, MA, spoke
at our annual Service
of Commemoration on
Bigelow Chapel Lawn.
4 On Thursday June 6th,
Jim Holman, Director of
Cemetery Development,
described how the
Cemetery has modified
its offerings to meet the
changing needs of its
clients. Here he is showing
natural burial areas
currently under develop-
ment to Mount Auburn’s
Council of Visitors.
5 Politics and Social
Activism was the theme
of the 11th Annual
Cambridge Open Archives
and on June 27 general
visitors, as well as staff,
volunteers and interns of
the Cemetery, gathered
to get a closer look at
documents related to
Burial Reform and
Evolving Landscape
practices from the
Mount Auburn archives.
6 On July 18th, people
gathered on the grass
and in lawn chairs
at Mount Auburn’s
greenhouse garden
to listen to bluegrass
music performed by
Tim Rowell, Thom
Sayers, Don Borchelt,
John Maguire and The
Barnstormers. This
was one of three in a
series of concerts at the
greenhouse this summer
supported by a grant
from the Watertown
Cultural Council.
