Mount Auburn Staff and Docents will share the stories of the women who they most admire on this walking tour celebrating Women’ s History Month. The theme this year is“ Nevertheless She Persisted: Fighting Discrimination Against Women.”

Images of celestial beings are found throughout the Cemetery, proudly posing on pedestals or tucked into the decorations of many monuments. Join Volunteer Docent Rosemarie Smurzynski for an exploration of the grounds, seeking examples of these winged beings in marble and granite.

# Documentary Screening: Svetlana Boym: Exile and Imagination Saturday, April 7, 2018, 4 PM
This one-hour documentary film is about the life and work of Svetlana Boym, literary and cultural critic, media artist, novelist, playwright and the Carl Hugo Reisinger Professor of Slavic and Comparative Literature at Harvard University. Filmmaker Judith Wechsler will be in attendance to answer questions. Svetlana Boym is buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery.

# Dances of the Spirit: The Works of Isadora Duncan Saturday, June 23, 2018, 2 PM
Known as the“ mother of modern dance,” Isadora Duncan created a series of mourning dances following the accidental deaths of her two children in 1913. Dances by Isadora will perform these evocative dances of wind, sea, darkness, and light in Hazel Dell.
