FAREWELL AND THANK YOU TO THE COUNCIL OF VISITORS

By Jenny Gilbert Interim Vice President of Institutional Advancement
he year 2021 has been one of many transitions for

T Mount Auburn Cemetery , from a new strategic bridge plan to a new President & CEO . After much thought , a decision was also made that with the end of Dave Barnett ’ s tenure , we would sunset Mount Auburn ’ s Council of Visitors as well .

Since its founding in 2012 , the primary goal of the Council was to help Mount Auburn refine its strategic focus as both a cultural organization and an active cemetery . Council members have shared expertise , offered advice , served on committees , and welcomed Mount Auburn staff and supporters at their own organizations . Members have enjoyed informative meetings , participated in private events , and funded significant preservation , education , and horticulture initiatives .
We are grateful to all of our Council members , past and present , for their service as ambassadors and advisors over the years . Although the Council will no longer be a formal group at Mount Auburn , we look forward to continuing the partnerships and friendships we have built as Mount Auburn continues to grow and evolve moving forward .
