The IMF move into new offices based in Coleshill
A lot has happened since we last wrote in Surface World and we have now become the proud owners of new offices , which are based in Coleshill and offer a lot of advantages over our old premises .
We now have the benefit of an excellent Board room , plus an ‘ education room ’ which will be used for tutoring , training courses and examinations . In addition , there is a smaller conference room , which can be used for committee meetings , the facility for a properly accessible library and an IMF ‘ museum ’ detailing our past !
The whole offices are double glazed and air-conditioned , thus providing a far better working environment . We are planning to invest some of the ‘ profits ’ from the sale of Exeter House in advanced electronic presentation and communication equipment , really bringing the Institute into the twenty first century !

This year we sponsored SURFACE WORLD at the NEC ( 2nd & 3rd March 2022 ) and were based in the centre of the hall . The stand was open plan which allowed people to walk through , meet & greet and share a coffee with us to talk about matters “ Finishing ”.
The two days were well attended and resulted in us gaining some extra Sustaining Members .
There were videos running on two television screens showing some of the webinars that we now offer together with advertisements from some of our Sustaining Members and the whole event was very well received .
We attended Mach 2022 exhibition at the NEC ( 4 – 8th April ) which was looked after by Helen and although it was mainly designed as an engineering exhibition there was a general flow of people genuinely interested in what the IMF has to offer .
The website for the IMF ( www . materialsfinishing . org ) now offers the opportunity for non-members to see our last seminar presentation with the idea that if these are of interest then it may encourage people to join giving them the ability to source previous webinars that we have done .
There is also a “ Podcast ” area where John Burgess talks to members about their experiences in the IMF , how they got into the industry and any other topic that may be relevant . It is something different and does seem to attract a lot of interest .
We are now featuring in LinkedIn and this has proved very useful in giving us the ability to advertise the IMF with all the upcoming information .
The IMF does feel that we have now moved into another level and we hope that we can continue to serve as an educator to the Finishing Industry .
