Changes have provided growth for Sullivan
by Delores Walker
Aleks Sullivan, daughter of Travis and
Amy Sullivan, has learned the value of a
good work ethic having participated in
the co/op and dual-enrollment programs
at Lafayette High School.
She has completed her CNA (Certified Nursing
Assistant) training at Big Bend Technical School in
Perry during her senior year and worked at Thriftway
in Mayo. She hopes to complete the other
phases of the Patient Care Program (Phlebotomy
and EKG) when school resumes.
She plans to further her education in the medical
field, and is leaning towards sports medicine as
her specialty.
“I’ve played volleyball all through middle and
high school and experienced first-hand the injuries
that can occur,” Sullivan said.
Her 13 years of education at Mayo are remembered
with pride and affection. Sullivan said all
of her teachers were great, but one teacher, Emily
Beach, stands out in her memories because she
treated her like one of her kids.
“There are so many important milestones our
class missed; Senior Prom – Senior Trip – Grad
Night – Baccalaureate – Graduation. Nevertheless,
the changes in activities I took for granted has given
me the opportunity to experience growth as I take
the next step in life,” Sullivan said.
