White enjoyed small-school feel of HCHS
by Hayli Zuccola
Encouraged by his friends to embrace the
high school experience, Mykelti White became
involved in various activities at Hamilton
County High by playing football and
soccer to joining the Hispanic Heritage Club and
Theater Club.
Some of his accomplishments over the years
include being named Student of the Month in 11th
grade and winning the county’s local spelling bee in
middle school, where he went on to compete in the
statewide competition in Tallahassee.
“I believe Hamilton County High School, it’s a
nice school, small, hometown school where everybody
knows everybody so when you go it’s just, you
know, you feel comfortable there, you make friends
better I guess than being at a bigger school,” White
reminisced about his experience during a phone interview.
Having his senior year cut short due to the
COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic was hard for
White, who missed being able to socialize with his
friends and gradually accept the end of his high
school years.
“I was thrown straight from the high school life
into the grown up life,” he said.
After graduating, White knows that he wants
to continue his education by going to college even if
he isn’t entirely sure what area of study he wants to
pursue yet.
