Jacobs made lasting memories at BHS
by Mike Jones
In her time at Branford High School, Amanda Jacobs
stayed busy. She was involved in the Beta Club, National
Honor Society, Art Club, Marching Band and
Concert Band. She participated in all those clubs while
also taking AP classes and working an after-school job.
She made some lasting memories at BHS. A lot of
those memories were related to art.
“One of my best memories is when I first won a ribbon
in an art contest in 10th grade,” Jacobs said. “My favorite
class was art because I got to be me — creative and hands
on. My favorite teacher was Ms. Fryar, my art teacher, and
Ms. Roundtree. I really liked all of my teachers.”
Jacobs also sees art in her future. She plans to go to
college, but doesn’t know where. She wants to study visual
or studio arts.
As for what she will miss most about BHS, Jacobs said
it’s the people.
“I’ve known them all since fifth grade,” Jacobs said.
Williams will miss everything about BHS
by Mike Jones
Damian Williams was an active student at Branford
High School. He was in the Marching Band
for seven years. He was also involved in the Beta
Club and National Honor society for four years.
“Marching band was always fun, messing around with
friends,” Williams said. “We won awards with the Beta
Club.”
At the 2020 State Beta Club Convention in Orlando,
Williams and four other Branford High students — the Buccaneers
engineering team — won first place. In the fine arts
part of the event, Williams and his team finished third.
“I moved here in fourth grade. The thing I will miss the
most about Branford High School is the people,” Williams
said. “There really isn’t anything I won’t miss. I did everything
I wanted to do (at BHS).”
Williams said his favorite class was Art because he likes
to draw. Among his favorite teachers were Ms. Soride for
Pre-calculus, Ms. Roundtree for AP Language Arts and
Composition and Ms. Fryar for Art.
For the future, Williams wants to own his own custom
car shop. He said he is already working on that goal.
