ADOPT-A-SCHOOL
We returned the next day to Palmeras ll and worked with Adopt-A-School to deliver supplies. Megan, our leader, had an evident passion for partnering with communities. We organized the supplies by grade level, and students from elementary to high school were called up individually to receive crayons, pencils, pens, and folders. We bent down to their level so the exchange felt more personal and comfortable. Some children would give us necklaces or bracelets. The supplies these kids received would be their school supplies for the rest of their school year. It was moving to see how much they appreciated the small amount of supplies we delivered to them. Our easy access to supplies at home makes us less appreciative of what we use every day.
