To commemorate the International Beach and Coastal Cleaning Day , the cleaning of two beaches in the Sian ka ' an Biosphere Reserve was organized , with the participation of 50 employees and their families , belonging to different Mayakoba facilities .
Mayakoba participated in the international cleaning of beaches and coasts organized by the Municipality of
Solidaridad , on Xcalacoco beach , where it was possible to collect :
35 kg general garbage 11kg of glass 4kg PET 3kg cans 100 gr butts 100 g metals 50 gr of lids .
In Banyan Tree a video was made where the hatching of sea turtles was recorded , so that all guests can appreciate the process , the video has been seen by more than 100 people .
Banyan Tree collaborators participated in 7 cleaning events , which included areas around the hotel , a community associated with the Playa del Carmen Animal Welfare Center ( CEBIAM ) and a beach in a protected natural area . A total of 177 employees and community members participated to collect approximately 759 kg of waste .
