SUSTAINABLE MAYAKOBA 2021 - 2022
In 2011 , the World Tourism Organization awarded the Mayakoba Tourism Development the Ulysses Award in the Business Innovation category for being a Sustainable and Socially Responsible Development .
Since 2013 the Mayakoba Development has obtained the Tourism Environmental Quality Certification at Performance Level 1 granted by the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection ( PROFEPA ) with renewals in 2015 , 2017 . As of 2019 the certificate was renewed and obtained at Performance Level 2 . Likewise , since 2018 it has had the Green Certificate granted by the Environmental Protection Attorney ( PPA ) of the State of Quintana Roo .
The Fairmont , Rosewood , Banyan Tree and Andaz Mayakoba Hotels have the Preferred by Nature certification for demonstrating full compliance with the business , socio-cultural and environmental principles of the Sustainable Tourism Standard for accommodations , recognized by the GSTC .
Since 2011 the Mayakoba Hotels ; Fairmont , Rosewood , Andaz and Banyan Tree have been certified by the Rainforest Alliance , a certifier recently acquired by Preferred by Nature . In May 2011 they were awarded the Sustainable Standard-Setter Award . Similarly , they have the distinctive " S " granted by the Ministry of Tourism ( SECTUR ).
