35 % of the surface of Mayakoba are areas of conservation and protection of flora and fauna .
In Mayakoba , 60 hectares of mangroves are conserved , where we find 4 species of mangroves ; red , black , button and white .

Since 2010 there is no presence of sea pine ( Casuarina equisetifolia ) in Mayakoba , which according to the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity ( CONABIO ) is an invasive species present in Mexico .
Two monitoring of jungle vegetation , the mangrove swamp and the Mayakoba dune were carried out to determine the degree of development and conservation of these ecosystems .
A Mayan technique called “ socoleo ” has been practiced in Mayakoba since the implementation of the project for the sustainable maintenance of vegetation zones .
