We continue with the Reef Restoration Program , where colonies of elkhorn coral ( Acropora palmata ) have been transplanted in the reef patches located off Mayakoba . The size of the transplanted colonies in Mayakoba has increased remarkably up to 11 cm from 2018 to 2021 .
In the marine area , a fish density of 145 individuals /
100 m2 is observed .
In Mayakoba there are 2 colonies of permanent resident boat-billed herons that nest in the mangrove conservation area .
Fairmont has a meliponario made up of three hives or jobones that is used to raise awareness and knowledge of this species of bees for users of the hotel ' s SPA .
Special care is given to pollination and seed dispersing species .
