FROM THE DIRECTOR’S DESK
A Call to Chip in
On 11 July 2017, our University was officially
granted the status of an autonomous
university, bringing us into the realm of other
Singapore AUs, viz., NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD
and SIT. Although we have a new name,
the Singapore University of Social Sciences
(SUSS), we are not exactly a new kid on the
block. The University’s vision and mission
have not changed. We still strive to be the
University of Choice for Lifelong Learning,
and to provide lifelong education, equipping
learners to serve society.
As our alumni, you are one of our key pillars
and we welcome you to continue to partner
us in the fulfilment of our mission.
Our
more recent cohorts of alumni may be more
familiar with the reference to the 3H’s: Head,
Heart and Habit, the corner stone of our
education philosophy. Everything we do, from
our teaching methods to our programme
structure, is designed to train graduates who are
professionally competent and job-ready, with
strong applied skills and knowledge (Head),
are socially conscious with the desire to make
positive changes in society (Heart), and are self-
directed learners with strong work ethics and
values (Habit).
There are many ways that our alumni can remain
an active part of the University. Let me share
some ways where you can chip in!
