2020 will be interesting with some good players moving to U14’s. The pool of U13’s will once
again be supported by the stronger U12’s. The performances and levels of wins will be hard to
follow but based upon U12’s results it should be interesting.
Just like the U12 friendly matches the Four Ball Better Ball format with 1pt for winning each nine
and 2pts for winning the match was used in some of the friendly matches.
The U13’s won their first match home to Essex, and did not look back, beating every county they
played, wins came against BB&O, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Wiltshire & Sussex.
The match against BB&O & Herts saw Surrey take maximum points and not concede even a half.
The Triple Shield match between Surrey, Kent & Sussex was brutal with Surrey sweeping aside
their opponents. This saw Surrey retain the trophy from the previous year. Surrey eventually beat
Kent by 24 points and Sussex by 22 points.
In the triple match against Sussex and Hampshire for the Friendship Trophy the boys once again
demonstrated their toughness, experience and team spirit to again retain the trophy from Sussex
& Hampshire. Surrey beat Sussex and Hampshire by large margins once more
It is obvious that the RookieTour, CAP coaching, volume of county matches and drive by the boys
paid dividends in 2019

Anything the U13’s can do the U12’s can do, probably because a lot of the players represent both
age groups and U14’s. Years of experience even at this young age make for a very strong group
of players, who all seem undeterred by a call up to the County team. Each one takes it their stride
and seems at home representing their County. As per the U13’s the U12’s brushed aside everyone
they played in some style.
County’s beaten were Hampshire, Sussex, Kent, BB&O, Wiltshire and Hertfordshire
Surrey beat a combined Sussex & Hampshire side 26-6, pitting themselves against the best
from these two counties. They went from strength to strength beating BB&O & Herts in a triple
matchplay, dropping a single point in the 6 a side to win 11-1.
The 19 different players selected were outstanding, this number to represent Surrey would have
been even greater if the Essex match had not unfortunately been cancelled.
