After an excellent lunch put on by the Club the players headed back out to the 1st tee to complete their second round. Unbelievably the rain came in during the afternoon rounds, which caught a few players out, they clearly thought wet weather gear wasn’t thought to be a requirement, wrong. But the water was certainly welcomed by the course if not the players! The afternoon conditions had changed slightly due to the rain although the course was still not forgiving with no pair breaking par. Joint leaders Jack and Bailey came in with a four over 76 for a +2 total for the day, two groups later Richard and Alex came in with a two over par 74 for a level par 144 total for the day and with no other pairs scoring better they were the Champions. Sean Mullan & Harry Uzzell of Wentworth took 3rd spot with scores of 73 + 75 for a 148 total. It had been a great day’s golf, with many players complimenting the course and Club. Our thanks to Farnham Golf Club for hosting this event and presenting the course in such good condition despite the recent hot weather, also thanks to the volunteers who helped make the day such a success. Congratulations to Richard Barnes & Alex Tonge of Burhill the 2018 Surrey County Club Foursomes Champions. The structure aims to support in the identification, development and progression of players with the potential and dedication required to play at a regional level and potentially at a national level. The County Academy Programme is not designed to replace or conflict with the players existing home coaching - but rather to support these existing relationships, adding further value and opportunity to aid their development. Each year the Clubs are invited to nominate juniors who are not currently part of the programme to be considered, an invitation will follow, subject to certain criteria being met. Over 200 juniors take part in the programme every year. - 38 -
