The Elcometer 415 offers 1-point or 2-point
calibration methods for optimisation of the
performance of the gauge on the substrate
material to be tested.
The 1-point adjustment method (also known
as the Zero Calibration method) is a simple
technique for use on smooth substrates.
Simply place the probe on the uncoated
metal and the gauge will adjust the
calibration accordingly.

The 2-point adjustment method (also known
as the Smooth Calibration method) provides
a more accurate method for adjusting the
gauge using both the uncoated substrate and
a thickness standard or foil of known value.
Both of these calibration methods can be
selected by the user and there are on-screen
prompts to guide the user through the
adjustment process. The chosen method is
displayed on the screen as an icon as
follows:
