AluK host QUALICOAT training
The key to quality
architectural coatings lies
in its correct application,
both the pretreatment
system and the powder
coating itself must be
applied in the correct
way and under a closely
controlled process.
Crucial to this process is
the monitoring and ongoing
testing of the process.
Every QUALICOAT licensed applicators’
laboratory technicians must attend training
every two years to ensure that all correct and
up to date testing is carried out. It is these
monitoring and testing procedures that are
checked twice annually, unannounced
inspections from QUALICOAT’s recognised
testing house. Failure to meet these
standards can leaded to a QUALICOAT
approved applicator losing their licence.
IFO, based in the Netherlands, are the
appointed independent inspectorate for
QUALICOAT UK & Ireland, Mark Holz of
IFO has set up the ‘IFO Academy’ specifically
for the training of laboratory technicians.
The most recent training course was held at
AluK in Chepstow, where twenty six delegates
were offered training and updates to the latest,
sixteenth edition, of the QUALICOAT standard.
Together with theoretical study, candidates
reviewed up to date testing practices and
equipment. The one day training course
was completed with a tour of the extensive
AluK facility.
Copies of the new sixteenth edition of
the QUALICOAT Standard, is available
through the UK Association website,

an up-to-date list of approved Powder
Suppliers, approved Pretreatment
Suppliers and licensed Applicators.
