Straaltechniek UK Ltd refurbish & install
roller conveyor shot blaster for Hall & Pickles
For two centuries Hall
& Pickles have supplied
Steel throughout the UK
and today they hold a
comprehensive range of
general steel and strip mill
products with full stock
coverage of popular sizes
in all major product groups.
Through seven generations
of the Hall family, Hall &
Pickles has evolved through
consistent investment and
innovation into the market
leader they are today.
This year, Hall & Pickles consistent investment
has continued and included the requirement
to add a new roller conveyor shot blast
machine at their Monkhouse & Brown site in
Gateshead. By providing fantastic customer
service as well as a quality product being
supplied the site has thrived and received
a high demand by their customers which
triggered a requirement to increase
production by investing in a 2nd roller
conveyor shot blast machine.

As a valued customer of Straaltechniek UK,
who have been servicing and supplying
spares on the existing shot blast machine
Monkhouse & Brown made contact with them
and invited James Lees (UK Sales Manager,
Straaltechniek UK) to visit the site in
Gateshead and meet with Stephen Paul
(Group Operations Director) to discuss the
potential for supplying a machine suitable
for their production requirements.
The timing was perfect as Straaltechniek UK
had recently acquired a 2nd hand machine
very similar to the one currently being used at
Monkhouse & Brown and after an inspection
of the machine an offer was made by
quotation to refurbish the equipment, supply
and install on site mirroring the existing
process and therefore enabling productivity
to double.
Stephen Paul, Group Operations Director at
Hall and Pickles said;
“Investing in a high quality and reliable
product has always been vital to Hall and
Pickles to ensure our customers receive their
products on time and shot blasted to the
highest possible standard, and adding this
second machine will no doubt prove to be
a long term investment that will continue
to service our customers in the same way
as our existing machine”

An order was placed and the machine
was refurbished at Straaltechniek UK’s
workshop in Sheffield. The machine has
since been delivered, installed and is in
full production.
James Lees, UK Sales Manager at
Straaltechniek UK said;
“This was an amazing refurbishment job to
see from start to finish. The transformation
of the machine is remarkable, and the
finished product looks great. Stephen and
the team have been a pleasure to deal
with throughout the whole project and
so we are very pleased to have supplied
a machine they are happy with”
