SURFACE WORLD LIVE
The home of Surface World Live saw the new
NHS Nightingale Hospital in Birmingham open
The NHS Nightingale
Hospital Birmingham was
officially opened by His
Royal Highness The Duke
of Cambridge, providing
hundreds more beds
for Covid-19 patients,
if local services need them.
The new facility was constructed within eight
days inside the National Exhibition Centre
(NEC) in Birmingham, the home of Trophex
– a trade show for the trophy, awards,
engraving and personalisation industry. It will
initially provide up to 500 beds for general
medical COVID-19 patients from across the
Midlands, allowing existing hospitals and
their expert clinical teams to focus on those
who need intensive care.
Appearing via video link, as well as Health
Secretary Matt Hancock, West Midlands
Mayor Andy Street and NHS Chief Executive
Sir Simon Stevens, The Duke of Cambridge,
praised all those involved in setting up the
new hospital, which will be run by University
Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
If required a second stake expansion could
see the new hospital provide support for
2,000 Covid-19 patients.
The construction involved members of the
armed forces, many of whom are based at
the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine within
the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham,
which is also run by UHB.
The new facility is one of seven Nightingale
LIVE
Revised dates: 24th & 25th February 2021, NEC, Birmingham
- we have everything covered
hospitals to be set up
around the country as part
of a massive NHS effort to
respond to the greatest
global health emergency
in more than a century.
Surface World is looking
forward to returning to the
NEC in 2021.
2021 is the year of
opportunity for all
industries. After the world
being on lock down for
such an extended period
of time during 2020
due to the Covid-19
pandemic, the economy of every country will
be working full steam ahead to get back on
track. 2021 will be the year where new
growth is the global target and through
working together this could be achieved.
One opportunity that will be available to the
surface finishing industry to help get back on
track will be trade shows. The organisers of
Surface World are very aware that the show
will be a valuable asset as a platform to meet
new customers and build on current business
relationships. The show will create a vital link
to present your business, products and
services directly to your target audience. It
could be one of the busiest shows to date.
The revised dates for Surface World in 2021
are 24th & 25th February after the show was
postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There are exciting new plans ahead for
Surface World, these will be announced later
this year, but the main focus will be working
together to get the surface finishing industry
back on track.
