INDUSTRY NEWS Sustainable accreditation creates 'full house' for Cornelius Group Cornelius, a leading independent European manufacturer and distributor of speciality chemicals, raw materials and ingredients for the life sciences and performance chemicals sectors has now achieved ISO14001:2015 accreditation for its Cornelius Specialities research and manufacturing division, which focuses on product development and supply excellence within the ocular and dental sectors. The accreditation completes the full set for the group, with the credentials now held by all individual divisions of the business. As a significant presence within the speciality and performance chemical supply chain, Cornelius understands the importance of sustainable operations and the long term benefits of reducing environmental impact not just for the business, but for its customers and communities. Following a sustained period of operational change, including the introduction of a revised Environmental Management System (‘EMS’) across its three sites, the business completed the audit with only four instances of minor non-conformance. The accomplishment completes the full ISO14001:2015 Environmental accreditation of the Cornelius Group, across its manufacturing and distribution operations in the UK and Poland, underlining the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and environmental consideration. Simon Moran, Q&A Manager at Cornelius, commented: “This accreditation is such a special achievement for us and a great example of the team coming together with the long-term future of the business truly in focus. Chemical supply businesses are rightly under scrutiny in terms of environmental impact, and we aim to maintain a leading example for the industry. Our customers can be confident that we take every effort and opportunity to proactively reduce waste in all its forms. “For such a complex sector, meeting the criteria for ISO14001:2015 has really been a group effort. We rely on each individual within the business to play their part, which they have done with aplomb, and we'd like to give our thanks to the dedicated staff at our Cornelius Specialties site in particular for showcasing professionalism, attention to detail and a willingness to embrace change as we move the business forward.” With a core ethos of 'Ethical Excellence' woven into the business, Cornelius aims to continually set the standard for responsible supply and manufacture, improving efficiencies along the supply chain and making effective use of resources. The additional ISO14001:2015 Environmental accreditation joins the company's expansive list of long term quality and sustainability certifications.
