ELCOMETER Elcometer 456 Scanning Probes speed up coating thickness testing Elcometer offer three scanning probe options for the very popular Elcometer 456 Coating Thickness Gauge. The Elcometer 456 Digital Coating Thickness Gauge sets high standards for dry film thickness measurement, providing fast, reliable and accurate readings, helping to ensure that the coating process is in control and the specification is being met to aid in the achievement of the desired coating service life. These scanning probes are called Ultra/Scan probes and are available for measurement of coating thickness on either ferrous metals (F) or non-ferrous metals (NF). The probes are supplied as F only or dual FNF options. For ferrous substrates there are two scale ranges available, F1 for thicknesses in the range 0 – 1,500 µm and F2 for thicknesses in the range 0 to 5,000 µm. The FNF scale range is 0 to 1,500 µm, the non-ferrous (NF) principle can be used for measuring coatings on non-ferrous metals. Ferrous (F) probes are suitable for measurement of non-magnetic coatings, such as paints, varnishes, plastics, rubbers, etc. on ferro-magnetic substrates e.g. steel, magnetic stainless steel, cast iron, etc. Non-ferrous (NF) probes are suitable for nonconductive coatings on non-ferrous metals, such as aluminium, aluminium alloys, non-magnetic stainless steels, copper, zinc, etc. Dual Ferrous/Non-ferrous (FNF) probes combine these two measurement capabilities into a single dual purpose probe. Gauges used with dual FNF probes can be set up to automatically recognise the type of substrate or can be set to measure on a particular type of substrate. The Elcometer 456 Coating Thickness Gauge Available in a range of models with different measurement and software options for measuring dry film thickness on ferrous & non-ferrous metal substrates, the Elcometer 456 is powerful, rugged and easy to use. Key features include: 2.4” colour display, clear menu structure and large buttons, make the Elcometer 456 very easy to use. Impact resistant and sealed against dust and water, the Elcometer 456 is extremely rugged and is ideal for use in all environments.
