PAINT & POWDER
Onwards and Upwards for
Vertik-AL and Gema UK
For this month’s Paint &
Powder Edition we feature
one of the UK’s leading
powder coating businesses,
Vertik-AL, a pioneer and
innovator in the powder
coating services space.
As part of their on-going investment strategy,
Vertik-Al have recently finalised the latest step
in their ongoing improvement programme,
this included a state of the art Gema Magic
Compact horizontal powder coating plant
(pictured above). We discuss this investment
with Vertik-Al’s Group Director, John
Park-Davies, who took some time to talk
about the investment along with Leon Hogg,
Business Manager representing Gema UK.
John Park Davis provided some insight in to
the services and continuous success of one
of the UK’s heritage coating businesses that
spans six decades, John explained “Vertik-Al
has been at the forefront of powder coating
for over 50 years and, as a consequence,
offers market leading quality that meets both
our customers’ needs and the requirements
of the end client. This process requires
continual improvement in technology,
process, quality, efficiency and development
of properties and functions of materials.
With this in mind, we have an investment
strategy and programme of asset
management that is borne out by this major
investment.”
Leon Hogg, Gema UK discusses finalising
plant design and specification “It was clear
during the early evaluation stages that
Vertik-Al were keen to invest in the very
latest innovations that deliver quality
and performance benefits to their customer
base. With the high demand on quality,
repeatability and quick production
turnaround we quickly arrived at the Magic
Compact fast colour change booth, a system
that provided the perfect strategic fit when it
comes to matching the level of flexibility and
performance criteria set out by Vertik-Al’s
team.”

quality coating results over extended

Due to Vertik-Al’s high production demands
meticulous planning was required to
minimise disruption and down time as well
as mitigate risk, Leon Hogg explained the
project delivery and installation aspects,
“To position ourselves to provide the very
best in end-to-end project delivery we have
invested significantly within the Gema UK
business. This continuous investment in
our personnel and technology ensures that
we deliver complex projects on time and
mitigate risk for our customers. Our highly

and project, installation, commissioning
and training engineers, so we have all
bases covered. This end-to-end UK based
engineering provision allows us to support
projects such as Vertik-Al, providing our
