Suntan Lotion is Good, Right?
Some of us here at Surf Coaches Magazine grew up as beach lovers during the decades when our moms let us play all day in the sun. Did they rub us down with sunscreen? No way! They couldn't even catch us. Then, as teenagers, we covered ourselves in rich, glistening oil.
Crazy, right? Right.
Now that we are wiser to the effects of the sun beast, we slather on 45 SPF faithfully, without a thought. Well, let's think about it .
What can surfers do?
READ LABELS. Look for a brand that uses physical sunblocks, such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. And don't trust the fancy promotional language that purports itself to be "reef-friendly."
