One family takes on Africa overland,
powered by veggie oil
In 2013 a stand-up comic, a blogger, their two plucky kids and a big green truck that
runs purely on waste vegetable oil and solar power set off on Africa Clockwise – an
epic adventure to travel the circumference of Africa. Currently halfway through their
trip, stand-up comic Mark Sampson, his wife Sam Pearce and their two kids, Ruby
(16) and Zola (12), have braved breakdowns, byzantine border regulations, illness,
heat and sand on their quest to draw attention to the challenges of climate change
on the continent. Sam spoke to Charlie Human about their travels and the joys and
challenges of life on the road.
