SAY WHAT’SUP
TO CAPE TOWN
Stand-up Paddleboarding
(SUP) is the latest sport to hit the waves
of Mzansi but before you tackle the
peeling rollers, best you hone your skills in
calmer waters.
Cape Town offers a full range of SUP
experiences, starting in the placid canals
of the V&A Waterfront precinct, which
are ideal for learning the basics. SUP
Cape Town (supcapetown.co.za ) has a
clubhouse on the canals that offers rentals
and introductory lessons. If you have a
little time in the city they’ll even arrange
long-term board rental.
Gravity Adventures (www.gravity.co.za)
offers multiple SUP options, from basic
lessons to freshwater adventures and trips
exploring the West Coast National Park.
Further south, Xpression on the Beach
(xpressiononthebeach.com) in Muizenberg
runs an excellent operation and “the
’Berg’s” gentle waves are the perfect place
to find your feet in the ocean.

TAKE A WALK ON THE
WILD SIDE

spring is the “secret season”
along the stunning Wild Coast, with mild

Fly into Durban to tackle the northern
section beyond Port Edward, where the

offer some of the best coastal scenery in
the country.
Or with family in tow, head south via
East London to the long lazy beaches
of Cintsa, Haga-Haga and Morgan Bay.
Choose between easy-going seaside
hotels or the upscale Prana Lodge and
Miarestate Hotel & Spa.
