Art and travel photographer Loes Heerink spent hour after hour on bridges in Hanoi , Vietnam , waiting for vendors to cycle beneath her for the perfect shot . “ It took me on average two hours for each image … It was mainly a lot of waiting – there were some days when there wasn ’ t a single vendor going by and days when there were quite a lot .” It was worth the wait : at the end of a three-year stint in Hanoi she returned home to the Netherlands with around 50 incredible aerial images of Vietnamese street vendors that will form the basis of a book . But why street vendors , and why only overhead images ? “ I find that street vendors make Hanoi the city that it is . They are so colourful and typical of the city ,” explains Heerink . “ And I wanted to have an image where there were no distractions from the vendors , so I figured the image had to be from above .” View the full series at www . loesheerink . com .
