WHERE IN THE WORLD AM I?
I have a long history of innovation
and invention: the world’s first paved
streets were developed here in 1339,
and I’m also credited as the birthplace
of gelato. Speaking of birthplaces, I was
also considered the birthplace of the
Renaissance and have been nicknamed
“the Athens of the Middle Ages.”
I’m home to the most Unesco
heritage-listed artworks in the world,
and my imposing domed cathedral is
still considered one of history’s top
architectural and engineering wonders.
But you’ll need to pack a sturdy pair of
walking shoes to explore everything I
have to offer – cars have been banned
in my historic centre, so best lace up
your boots.
