Consistently ranked one of the world’s
safest destinations, Singapore offers a
cross-cultural experience without much
of the culture shock; English is an official
language in this island city-state and
there’s warm weather year round. And its
ultra-modern architecture, amenities and
public transport mean you won’t have to
forego many of the comforts you’re used
to back home.
While Singapore doesn’t have the
same pocket-friendly reputation as Asian
destinations such as Thailand and Vietnam,
there are ways to plan a family holiday on
a budget. There are plenty of free parks

and affordable museums throughout
Singapore and a huge range of sure hits
with the kids, like Sentosa Island (home to
Universal Studios’ theme park and the “kid
city” called KidZania) and the jaw-dropping
Gardens by the Bay – a 250-acre green
oasis in central Singapore. It features a
Cloud Forest (with a tall waterfall in a
greenhouse!), sculpted Supertrees that
light up each night and the Children’s
Garden, with treehouse and adventure trail.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Don’t miss
the Singapore Zoo, Singapore Discovery
Centre, Wild Wild Wet waterpark or
Legoland Malaysia.
